Family of the Week: Chad and Cree

Chad and Cree Davis met online and were married Dec. 16, 2009. Chad is Mixed and Happy’s first site moderator. He was one of the first members of MH’s Facebook page this past October. A huge Mixed and Happy congratulations to newlyweds Chad and Cree!

How did you meet? Cree and I met on a dating site, plentyoffish.com, in Feb 2009. We both had searched for a very long time and could not find the right one for us. I had searched on that site for three to four years, and Cree had been on for less than a year. After meeting online, she flew out here to meet me in March. I then flew to see her in July, and then again in October, when I was able to meet her family. We got married at the courthouse two months later, in December.

How did you know she was the one? I knew that Cree was the one after talking to her for the first week — or less. We seemed to have so much in common, that it was kind of scary. I mean, everything from favorite color, religion, food, music, movies to what we wanted in a relationship, EVERYTHING.

How did you propose? Well, I proposed in a funny way. I had asked Cree over the phone to marry me a number of times — at least once a day, lol. I actually proposed to her at the Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower) in Chicago in July 2009. And she said YES!

Future family plans? Children? Cree is still schooling in Iowa and will graduate in May with her master’s degree in organizational management. We are currently doing the long-distance thing until May 2010. She will then move here, to North Carolina, and we will hopefully start a family within the next two years, if not before. Cree is also talking about going to the Navy, although we are unsure at this time. I wish she would just pursue a career with her degree, but she would like to explore the world more and is considering the Navy. So everyone keep us in your prayers for guidance.

What does life look like in 20 years from now? In 20 years, I would love to see us successful, having great jobs. I currently work at a group home facility and I love my clients there. I would hope to have advanced to higher positions in the near future. I would love to have at least four or five kids. I really look forward to that! I would also like for our family to be more dedicated to God, and doing more of His work including, volunteering, and maybe even ministering to the youth.
